The Rector, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Dr. Igbekele Ajibefun in his quest for transparency and accountability has inaugurated a Committee on due process in the institution. While inaugurating the Committee for the first time in the history of the thirty one-year old institution, the Rector asserted that the Committee was set up in order to block all kinds of financial leakages, sanitize the system and move the Institution forward.
The Chief Executive who described members of the Committee as people of high integrity and good conscience charged them to work harder and monitor the prices of all items so as to ensure that accurate and appropriate prices are used in all purchases in the institution. Dr. Ajibefun implored the Committee to help regulate the system and curb outrageous pricing so that the internally generated revenue (IGR) would move up, and in his, "We would not be running to Government for assistance at all times".
The 7-man Committee is headed by Mr. Foluso Alabi, a one time Head of Mass Communication Department. Other members include Messrs Gbenga Jinadu, F. O. Olatunji, Adafin J. K. and Dr. (Mrs) Ojo while Mr. Bayo Elebute is to serve as the Secretary.
Speaking on behalf of other members of the Price Regulatory committee, the Chairman, Mr. Foluso Alabi promised to work harder and be committed to their calling, stressing that "we would put in our best to correct to a large extent all financial lapses in the institution".
In another development, the Rector also received some officials of Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) who came to construct a building to be donated to the institution. In his welcome address, Dr. Ajibefun thanked the August Visitors for the good gesture. He informed them that RUGIPO has been one of the best Polytechnics in Nigeria but that most of the structures are old and dilapidated. He asserted that if educational sector is developed, all other sectors of the nation would be developed.
The Rector informed the visitors that for long the institution have been looking for external assistance but he was happy that OSOPADEC has now taken the lead. He however hoped that the partnership would continue.
Responding, the leader of the delegation Engr Otun assured the Rector that the gesture was the beginning of other good things to come. He affirmed that the structure to be constructed, a block of hostel accommodation was for the benefit of mankind. He then pleaded for maximum co-operation of the Managment of the Institution for the success of the project. Other members of the team include; Arc. Awogbami, Engr. Leke and Mrs Olufunmi.
